In his old age, he loses all capacity for emotion or memory, spending each day making and unmaking tiny golden fish. He dies while urinating on the tree to which his father had been tied for so many years. He represents not only a warrior figure but also an artist due to his ability to write poetry and create finely crafted golden fishes.
